Learn More About Reiki
Reiki is a Buddhist offspring of Qigong with added Shintoist influence. Mr. Mikaomi Usui, of Kyoto Japan, rediscovered it at the end of the 19th century. There is not one-way to relate to Reiki, everyone has his or her own way. Reiki is not a specific energy; itĚs a gross primal creative energy that anyone can tap into. Reiki is everywhere and we can choose to harness this energy. It is the same energy that originally sparks and sets the miracle of life into motion and it offers a great hope to heal the world.
Uses for Reiki
On your body and other people's bodies.
On plants and trees.
On pets and other animals.
On your food - especially when coming from an unknown source such as a restaurant. If the food is already made with love this may not be as necessary.
In rooms to cleanse and purify the space. Beam Reiki to the corners of the room.
Outside ones house for protection. Beam it.
To cleanse and purify crystals.
Reactivating homeopathic and flower essence remedies.
For empowering massage or other bodywork.
To energize something - food, drink, baths, plants, animals.
Over a written problem to manifest clarity.
Protection.
On transportation - beam Reiki on your bicycle, train, or car, for protection.
For creativity- Reiki bare canvas, blank pages, letters, clay, stone, or your computer.
To enhance ones presence, especially in difficult situations with communication, beam Reiki from the eyes. (Be sure there is permission, even if only from the higher self.)
Use your imagination and trust your innate wisdom.
Degrees

Enabled to pass on attunements to others.
A spleen cleansing.
A Reiki Master isn't someone who has mastered Reiki - but someone whom Reiki has mastered.
The Five Reiki Principles
1 - I am peace.
2 - Just for today I trust.
3 - Today I open my eyes to see all the gifts I receive at every moment.
4 - Today I serve honestly with all my heart.
5 - Honor all living beings.
Kanji Hand Positions
Kanji refers to a Japanese writing or ideogram. Similar to a mudra in Sanskrit, it is a mantra expressed by a hand position. The Kanjis help to focus one's attention as it centers and grounds the practitioner and provides the necessary power, guidance, and answers for healing.
Kanji 1 - to connect to the Reiki energy and draw more Reiki energy or power into the healing. (Reiki on). Interlace the fingers, release the index finger and cross the thumbs, usually right over left. (This is also used as a healing mudra in Qigong and Yoga.)
Kanji 2 - to request assistance of higher spiritual beings, angels, guides, ascended masters etc. as they can help with healing, it brings the spirit in closer and tighter. It is the same shape as the first kanji with the addition of releasing the middle finger as well so the tips of the middle finger meet.
Kanji 3 - to help one obtain guidance required and to answer any questions one may have which cannot be asked directly. Perform the kanji and wait for the answer to manifest. All fingers are interlaced. (This also serves to connect the left and right brain and balances these energies.)
The Three Pillars of Reiki
1. Gassho - "two hands
coming together"
A meditation to practice 20-30 minutes each morning or evening and preferably before treatment, even if only for a moment.
Sit with the eyes closed with one's entire attention at the point where the two middle fingers meet.
2. Reiji-Ho -
"indication of the Reiki power"
Gassho posture, eyes closed, connect with the power asking it to flow through you three times. (Hon x 3 sealed with a Cho).
Pray.
Bring hands in front of your third eye and ask Reiki to guide your hands to where needed.
3. Chiryo - "treatment"
Hold your dominant hands above client's crown chakra and wait for an impulse or inspiration.
Once Chiryo has begun you no longer need to be concerned about healing or any other treatment goal.
The Aura
When working with the
aura one may need only the minutest amount of energy to
heal on the outer layers and progressively more energy
as one moves closer to the physical body. The
vibrationary rate becomes gradually higher as we move
away from the body. There are many ways people interpret
the aura and its layers; this is one version. There are
4 layers beginning with that closest to the physical
body.
Physical - scanning is most effective at this layer, and healing at this layer requires less than the physical body.
Emotional - density is less and this layer usually ends somewhere around 18-20 inches from the body.
Mental - ends 3-4 feet from the body.
Spiritual - extremely light density with a high vibrationary rate.
Healing Experiences
It may be appropriate to explain some of the possible reactions to the client before treatment in a gentle and reassuring way. Sometimes it is okay to let the client receive the healing with out expectation as well.
Physical:
Energy moving in through the body.
Breeze felt moving on the outside of the body.
Tingling warmth or cold (very common) - note where and at what intensity these sensations occur as it can often help in future treatments.
Light-headedness - occurs mostly when client has been lacking in Ki energy.
Visual:
Colors, areas of color, swirls, spirals, shapes, or mist - most commonly violet - colors one sees can tell you something about them or their issues.
Scenes, worth discussing them and any accompanying feelings .
Visions or images, similar to scenes but may contain references outside our normal perceptions - angels, guides, etc, and may appear to be experienced. Usually one would leave the client to work through it with out interference. (If the person does not return, use Reiki with the intention of gently returning the client to full consciousness of the present.)
Mental:
Many thoughts or a profound mental stillness.
Emotional:
Be careful to not comfort the client; rather let them feel what it is that is coming up.
Be present to their feelings as well as your own and be sure there is room for the client to ask that you stop the session or take your hands off.
Let the client speak about what is happening for them without it turning into a mental analysis that may take her/him away from the feeling sense.
Psychic:
Alternative states of reality - often personal in some way and connected to those things that a person needs to address in her/his life.
